THE MOUTHPIECE: PURE PHYSICS OR PURE CHEMISTRY
One day the mouthpiece works very well, another day with the same mouthpiece you can’t find the sound or the position on the lip, etc. Why does this happen? The mouthpiece is not only the physical part: the rim, the throat, the cup… in a way the parts that are visible to the naked eye.
To understand how a mouthpiece works we also have to look outside of it, I call it the chemical part.
The aim of the talk is to give a broader view: (pure physics) the part that we see and touch and another part that we don’t see but is there (pure chemistry).
THE APPROACH AND TEACHINGS OF ARNOLD JACOBS
Simplicity and efficiency are two fundamental factors in Arnold Jacobs’ approach and teachings. Jacobs, always having physical problems and illnesses, decided to study the function and structure of the human being and then put all his knowledge to use, not to help himself, but to be able to help others. Many of these people came to his studio with «embouchure problems» among others, and in the end, they turned out to be problems with their respiratory systems, posture or the closure of their musical imaginations. He only focused on normalising their attitudes, from singing, imagining, imitating and making them more natural. He always said that one should work with nature and not against it. In this way, and by focusing on each individual student, Jacobs was able to help many, many people from all over the world, bringing them to their highest possible individual potentials. He also devoted himself to studying philosophy, psychology and medicine for over 40 years. This gave him a vast knowledge to address the problems of his students.medicina per més de 40 anys. THE HORN, DISASSEMBLY AND CLEANING OF THE MACHINERY
Throughout this talk, participants will learn the correct way to completely disassemble their own instrument, focusing more attention on one of the most important parts of the instrument: the machinery. They will learn the proper way to perform an optimal cleaning at home, they will also acquire basic skills to solve simple day-to-day problems related to the machinery, such as a clog, a slow machine due to dirt, etc. They will also learn the correct way to lubricate their instrument in order to avoid future damage. All this knowledge will be put into practice in their instruments so that none of the participants will leave without clarifying any doubts they may have in this respect.
